"Textbook" Supercell Schematic

If one could strip away all trees, hills, buildings, low clouds, intervening precipitation and other obstructions, this would resemble the appearance of many supercells. Observations and limited climatological studies have shown that most supercells -- especially in the eastern U.S., instead have heavy-preciptation (HP) structure, where rain and/or hail obscures the view of the wall cloud and possible tornado-producing region.
