Police in Superior responded to a reported disturbance on the evening of September 9, after a resident reported finding an armed man inside of his house in the area of Hammond Avenue and North 21st Street.

The homeowner then fled the home without knowing if the suspect was still inside, prompting officers to surround the house, and evacuate those living in nearby homes out of “an abundance of caution.” Members of Superior PD’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), Crisis Response Team, and Tactical Technology Team were also on scene, joined by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and their Special Response Team.

Police say they made several announcements outside of the home, but did not receive a response. Law Enforcement then entered the home with a K-9 unit, but say they cleared the house did not locate the suspect.

The incident is still under investigation at this time.
