Located in the South Caucasus region, Armenia is at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, making it a key hub for regional collaboration. It shares borders with Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iran, and Turkey. Yerevan is the capital and largest city of Armenia; it is easily accessible from major cities.
HOT TOPIC: Mission Roundup: Adaptation to Climate Change
The Mission is helping to create National Hubs and fund relevant climate adaptation research. Through its tools and Charter, it is also helping to raising awareness of climate risks, showcasing adaptation measures and providing much-needed knowhow, funding and technical expertise to help climate-vulnerable communities implement their Climate Adaptation Plans (responding to the EU Adaptation Strategy).

European Commission: Research and InnovationHorizon Europe is the EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation with aIt tackles climate change, helps to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and boosts the EU’s competitiveness and growth.
The programme facilitates collaboration and strengthens the impact of research and innovation in developing, supporting and implementing EU policies while tackling global challenges. It supports creating and better dispersing of excellent knowledge and technologies.
It creates jobs, fully engages the EU’s talent pool, boosts economic growth, promotes industrial competitiveness and optimises investment impact within a strengthened European Research Area.
Legal entities from the EU and associated countries can participate.
ERC
European Research Council: Excellence Opened to the WorldThe ERC, set up by the European Union in 2007, is the premier European funding organisation for excellent frontier research. It funds creative researchers of any nationality and age, to run projects based across Europe.
The ERC offers 4 core grant schemes: Starting Grants, Consolidator Grants, Advanced Grants and Synergy Grants. With its additional Proof of Concept Grant scheme, the ERC helps grantees to explore the innovation potential of their ideas or research results.
The ERC is led by an independent governing body, the Scientific Council. Since 1 November 2021, Maria Leptin is the President of the ERC.
The overall ERC budget from 2021 to 2027 is more than €16 billion, as part of the Horizon Europe programme, under the responsibility of the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Iliana Ivanova.
The ERC's mission is to encourage the highest quality research in Europe through competitive funding and to support investigator-driven frontier research across all fields, based on scientific excellence.
MSCA
Marie Sklodowska Curie ActionsThe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) under Horizon Europe's Excellent Science pillar provide grants for all stages of researchers' careers and encourage transnational, intersectoral and interdisciplinary mobility. The MSCA enable research-focused organisations (universities, research centres, and companies) to host talented foreign researchers and to create strategic partnerships with leading institutions worldwide. The MSCA are open to all domains of research and innovation.
ERASMUS
Erasmus+Erasmus+ has opportunities for a wide range of organisations, including universities, education and training providers, think-tanks, research organisations, and private businesses.
Canada and the USA are partner countries in Erasmus+. North American institutions can join partnerships, individual North American students can apply for Joint Master Degrees. North American researchers can also individually apply for Jean Monnet Actions that foster study of European integration.
