Our two guiding career principles are 'foster, qualify, transfer' for those researchers who spend some time of their careers with us and 'recruit, foster, retain' for those who will remain at University of Hamburg. This is also reflected in our range of support services at each career and transition stage. 

Advancing our career & research culture is a joint process throughout the university. This is reflected in the governance of the Hub of Academic Career & Research Culture (HARC), wherby the Steering Committee lies at the heart of our efforts. Here, faculties, researchers and administration meet once a semester to forward measures, exchange best-practices and promote new ideas. The Steering Committee also decides upon applications for seed money to support grassroot career & research culture projects thoughout the university.
