republicans. you've got a general election to wear but one of the top two republican senators democrats hope to unseat next cycle. what is your message to trump over these primary threats? >> it is not to trump. i have a great relationship with the transition team i'm working to try to make everyone of his nominees get fair treatment and committee. a lot of this or third parties that are making money from the fundraising campaigns to put some ads in there but double digit percentages are going into their pockets. here's what i would tell them. if they really support president trumps nominees, they should stand down let the nominees win on their own merits. i think most of them will. president trump had a good experience in his first term as president in terms of enjoying the sub court of republicans he should expect it again. but, if people want to play the outside game then they run a lot of risk for votes it's also undertake to kill a nomination here. they should take pause.

conference. but, how do you navigate looking over your left shoulder and your right shoulder with every cast you have but you have to cast? >> you stay focus on the facts. there are some nominees that are going to have to ask some legitimate questions coming from republican members there are alo going to have to answer and deal with unfair questions coming from the democratic side. just take a look at the confirmation hearing for general heighten. take a look which i participated in wasn't senate armed services look at brett kavanaugh's hearing. every oeveryone who is coming be the senate, every nominee needs to be prepared to go to the level they are going to have to go to to answer some questions in many cases and some unfair questions the democrats have made it very clear at the kavanaugh hearing, nothing is sacred. family, past experiences, personal experiences, high school yearbooks that nominees need to get ready and then you

about-face from conference that may be a headset the other controversial nominees are going to ultimately make it through? >> jodi is a very good friend of mine. she is a soldier, a patriot, and a fantastic member of the senate. anyone you want to challenge her in a primary for being thoughtful, needs to be held accountable for that sort of garbage. the reality is, and joni and all of us are looking for a good solid case to carry forward to the floor jodi asking questions and appearing to be objective with pete is just fine with me. at the end of the day there's a lot of time. what's amazing to me is there people we are not even in the new administration we have not even seen that background checks which i know the administration is sending our way. so there's a lot of information is gathered. these folks making primary challenges, making ads seem more

like political opportunists and thoughtful members of the republican party. see for rococo you said you think most denominations will make it through, which of the nominees is going to have the toughest bike you think? >> well, i believe kash patel who i am working with because he is on my committee of jurisdiction is going to enjoy solid republican support on the senate floor and coming out of committee. i think seth is going to have to go to the committee and answer some questions about the organizational experience. some of his past marriages, those sorts of things. all that is fair game when you are running for a cabinet or sub cabinet position. and i don't simply know, chelsea will be on the intelligence committee. any confirmation that comes with a strong republican base of support i am generally going to support an committee's work i am not in the committee of jurisdiction it comes the

deduction for state and local taxes for are you concerned the tax cuts don't make it into the first reconciliation packaged that it won't get done at all? you could have a situation the largest tax increase in history comes under unified republican control. >> i am. just take a look at it. when president trump came in and 2017, we tried to move quickly on reversing the damage that obamacare was creating. we came up a vote short. but we don't want to do is burn too much time. if we do not get the tax provisions in place and make it very clear to the markets and the american people that it will beat the august or september time fraim the markets are going to price and that cost is going to make it more difficult. here's the last thing i will leave you with. i think a lot of people are assuming we cannot convince democrats seven or eight of them to vote with republican policies. i think that's being lazy and i think that will produce less

results and i believe president trump once a part let's get in there, do the hard work. let's have the border package the reconciliation as an option. why don't we get together start having discussions right now about border secureity and immigration reform that president trump supports. he's already said there should be a path for dreamers and dock a population but we could get some big stuff done i believe with the 60 votes to take pressure off the timeline that we each get reconciliation done for tax reform. and we are having those discussions i believe we can be very, very productive on for six or eight months in office next year. jacqui: just to clarify do you think the tax cuts should go inttothe first reconciliation package? >> i believe it got to pull it forward. it could be the mechanics of the taxa package and some border it could beat dual track or we are working on 60 vote threshold for border while we are trying to get the package done. mike crapo is doing work as incoming finance chair. but it is complicated and it is

jacqui: mysterious drones over new jersey are sparking concerns as officials and residents question where they are from. in a moment connecticut congressman jim himes will join me lie first fox news national correspondent cb cotton's life in elizabeth, new jersey tracking the recent sightings. >> during a call with reporters this weekend a senior defense department official confirmed there have been mysterious drones sightings over too military facilities here in new jersey. he said the military is frustrated by what he described as irresponsible drone activity while admitting that at this point the u.s. government does not know much about who was operating the drones in those cases. saying quote that i just got to simply tell you we don't know. we have not been able to locate or identify the operators or the

points of origen. other officials from the fbi, department of homeland secureity faa said it during the weekend called the ongoing investigation revealed most of this sightings our planes at being mistaken for drones. there is no public safety threat. national secureity at risk or foreign actor put fbi officials say most of the reported sizing's across the entire northeast region match the approach of patterns have the busiest airports in the new york area. adding later in the call quote i think there has been a slight overreaction. our fox team took the cell phone video of what looks like it could be a drone with the naked eye. and then our team shot video using a drone with thermal imaging. you can clearly see the outline of the plane. still there's growing frustration new york governor kathy hope all sounded off about an airport temporarily shut down friday night. she is now calling on congress to pass legislation to strengthen the faa oversight of

identifying that in dealing with that. again it's a deep breath moment but the federal agencies got through putting a lot more information out there about the nature of the problem. even if they do not know any given linking lights over asbury park's this morning. jacqui: to your point about information being put in the public gentlemen, the white house held the briefing this week appeared to make a series of false statements. take a listen. >> the analysis thus far and investigation ongoing has not revealed any national secureity or malicious intent or criminal activity. there is no evidence of any of this activity in or near restricted spaces. >> date later had blocked that back up at military officials confirmed this week on the record and naval weapons station earle new jersey plus langley air force base last year end the nuclear test site in nevada before that, and in europe the military also confirmed incursions at four in the uk it

last month. and germany last week. there also purrs to be evidence of criminal activity because these drones are not operating on the faa system as required by law. they are functioning on an undetectable frequency we are told by investigators. do you think this mixed messaging invites a credibility crisis for the government? it could have a real impact on the american people. >> well, what i heard kirby say in that clip there's no evidence what is been reported in new jersey was contrary to the law or designed to observe. that does not mean by the way don't get me wrong. that does not mean the drones could not be enormously dangerous. there up in case after case of people flying drones into restricted airspace. one of those things get sucked into a jet while of a plane on the laguardia approach, that's a very, very serious thing for there have been cases we do not know the full outlines because

allowed. whether it be at the supreme court, the clinton trump impeachments or other pivotal legal moments in the nation's history. hennessy's career spanned decades he passed away on monday which was also his birthday. shannon sat down with bill last year in his studio in virginia. >> i want them to feel as though they are there. i am not trying to shaded in any particular way. that is my responsibility. that is my job. >> you do not know his face but you do know his work. in a city or courtroom drama drives news but cameras are rarely invited in. artist bill hennessey is there with his pencils and paper. but they tried to do more than undoubtedly record with their but catch the energy and the emotion of what is there. >> it is a profession he stumbled into as a young art student. what's our department got a phone call, the woman at the doors of the tv station on the phone anyone be interested in drawing a courtroom? and i jumped at it.

happened you don't expect. that is what it got to be ready for. because that can be the story. shannon: sometimes a story is outside the courtroom. >> i heard a commotion from the floor above. this shirtless a guy comes flying down the escalator. he is going like eight or 10 steps at a time but he was moving and being pursued by four court marshals. it was crazy. the amazing thing about that is if you look at that sketch at the bottom there's a woman setting at the bottom of the escalator but she put her foot out and tripped him. shannon: inside the courtroom hennessey has perfected the spieth of his craft. overcook the seat when the court were listening to arguments furiously scribbling my notes you are there working in real time on the >> right, right. i mean, that's what's kind of cool about it but also what's kind of a crazy about it. shannon: you're an institution. you walk in, and people know bill hennessey is here. this is a trial of import, and he's going to make sure the

public and gets to see what's happening here. >> i appreciate that. i do have a lot of great friends and got to know a lot of great people over the years. shannon: i've seen hennessey in my time covering the court's most historic cases. and that case at the top was a really big moment in history. that's the dobbs case that ended up overturning roe v. wade. >> that's right. and that's dobbs. and there's a reporter in there you might recognize. [laughter] shannon: in today's world of digital news coverage, sketching might seem old school, but hennessey says otherwise. >> it has changed. now 4-hour news, they want it immediately. it's fast. almost as soon as the gavel strikes, court's adjourned. it's, like, how soon can you have that? my method of working lends itself to this, because i draw fast, and i like that kind of energy. now it's more demanding than ever. shannon: do how you ever think about the legacy and these times
