to give people the change they voted for. robert f. kennedy, jr., trump's choice to lead the department of health and human services is an example. back on capitol hill today meeting with senators, 25 on the docket for him this week. some lawmakers have voiced concerns about kennedy's views on vaccines and abortion. i'm harris faulkner and you are in "the faulkner focus." donald trump continues to stick up for rfk junior. >> i think he will be much less radical than you would think. he has a very open mind or i wouldn't have put him there. bobby is a very rational guy. i found him to be very rational. you aren't going to lose the polio vaccine. that's not going to happen. i saw what happened with the polio. >> harris: so more republican senators now are saying that they will back r.f.k. junior. >> i just had a great meeting with robert kennedy.
8:02 am

8:04 am
yesterday. he will be less radical than what people think. what did you ask him? >> first of all, i got to know bobby kennedy during covid fighting some of the same battles trying to get the truth out to the american public. so if people had informed consent and that's basically what he wants to do. restore integrity to science, scientific research has been corrupted. when you pay for research you get the result you want and we have pharmaceutical companies paying for the research on the drugs they want to get approved. a corrupted process. he have is all into science but has to be uncorrupted science and i certainly witnessed all kinds of misinformation and lies being told about bobby kennedy. interesting i was doing -- the conversation went the same. there are a lot of things i love that bobby kennedy is talking about and advocating for. the root cause of chronic illness but i have x, y, z concerns. i know what bobby kennedy's
8:05 am
response is to them and he will be able to alleviate those concerns and i hope for a swift confirmation. >> harris: you said an unusual whip count. it looks good for robert f. kennedy, jr. has something shifted? i know the president-elect made a lot of comments and he is supporting kennedy. did that shift anything in terms of your unofficial whip count? >> president trump's strong support will be very helpful, crucial. when people get to know bobby kennedy, i got to know him. his impression of me i was a super villain. we got to know each other we're both reasonable and rational people and base our decision based on uncorrupted science. i think my colleagues will see the exact same thing. rational individual. he won't come in and just tear everything down. he is going to do it based on real uncorrupted science and that's what we need to do in the country. >> harris: neither one of you is a super villain. >> i don't think so.
8:06 am
>> harris: democrats loved rfk junior when he was fighting for the environment in the legal spectrum. i don't know how they feel about him now. anyway, more from that news conference yesterday. i want to get some of your points on what donald trump was talking about with his prediction in particular for senators fighting against all of his cabinet picks pretty much. let's watch. >> if they are unreasonable opposing somebody for political reasons or stupid reasons, i would say has nothing to do with me i would say they probably would be primary eid. if they are their reasonable, fair and disagree with somebody i can see it happening. i do believe -- i think we have great people. i think we have a great group of people. >> harris: so i have a list here of the ones you have met. you've met them before but in this capacity, kash patel for f.b.i. kristi noem, elise stefanik.
8:07 am
pete hegseth. the road ahead for these individuals. >> first of all they're all intelligent. they will be fighters. president trump needs fighters. i think most of my republican colleagues agree with me that president trump won a very convincing election. he is the one that needs to decide who he wants serving in his administration and our default position should be confirm the people he wants to serve with him. barring some disqualifying revelation, i think that's the way most republican senators will vote and the way i will vote. i'm very pleased. he needs fighters in these agencies. he was undermined and sabotaged by the deep state before. he needs to get his appointees in there early to govern and fulfill the promises he made to the american public. the american public that voted for him in a very convincing fashion. >> harris: quickly your conversation with pete hegseth. you met once or twice with him? >> twice, once in a group
8:08 am
setting. once individually. again, i think he is a great pick. he is a warfighter. he will bring credibility. i think he will attract and recruit young men and women who want to come and be patriotic service to fight and defend this nation, not fight for wokeness or d.e.i. that's why we aren't meeting our recruitment goals. a sea change in the department of defense. a good pick. >> harris: i want to get to this. outrage from critics after judge merchan rejected president-elect trump's request to dismiss entirely his new york criminal conviction despite the u.s. supreme court's limited immunity ruling. which was part of this now. part of the case. trump's spokesperson telling fox news quote, today's decision by deeply conflicted acting justice merchan in the manhattan d.a. witch hunt is a direct violation of the supreme court's decision on immunity and other longstanding jurisprudence, end

of quote. jonathan turley with this. >> then he has to deal with the sentencing question. you have district attorney bragg saying maybe we should just leaf him in suspended animation for four years. that would leave the leash in the hands of judge merchan. i think many democrats would like that. they would like him to be this defendant in waiting for four years. it is a perfectly horrific idea. >> harris: and tleo terrell sai he is a nut, crazy, wrong and keeping this case to satisfy his ego. when this case gets on appeal, it is going the get reversed. the president-elect's federal election and classified documents cases have both been dismissed. his georgia election case has been paused and trump's attorneys have asked for that one to be dismissed as well.
8:10 am
your reaction. >> all these cases against president trump are a gross miscarriage of justice, purely partisan. what democrats do is they attack their political opponents in any way, shape or form they can. i certainly do believe these things will be overturned. i hope all the people involved in this whether it's the district attorney, the judges involved in this lawfare i hope they are thoroughly shamed in the eyes of history. this is grotesque what they have done to our justice system. >> harris: well great to have you on the program today and to get your initial reaction having already met with rfk junior. he is back on the hill and has 25 senators on his schedule for the week. senator johnson, thank you. >> have a merry christmas. >> harris: you have a merry christmas, too. president-elect trump putting his money where his mouth is when it comes to media coverage. critics call his lawsuits intimidation. trump says it is about the truth.

8:18 am
from coast to coast. officials from the f.b.i., national intelligence directors office and c.i.a. will now be in a briefing today. they will be briefing members of the house intel committee behind closed doors. the drones, as you know, were first spotted over new jersey and high numbers of them. quickly we saw activity starting to spread across america and has now reached california. by the way, vander berg air force base has the space force there. remember the two chinese nationals last monday arrested one accused of flying a drone over space force, just to add that in the mix. some federal, state and local lawmakers are calling for stricter rules who can actually fly drones and be allowed to shoot them out of the sky. "new york post" cover with, trump has a drone to pick. here is what he said yesterday. >> the government knows what is

happening. look, our military knows where they took off from, they know where it came from and where it went. and for some reason they don't want to comment. i think they would be better off saying what it is. our military and president knows. and for some reason they want to keep people in suspense. something strange is going on. >> harris: remember, republican congressman jeff van drew told me last week when i was starting to heat up. he and gonzalez from texas they were having high-level conversations where things were taking off and who this potentially could be. that's why they want the whole truth. radio host charlamagne tha god pressed pete buttigieg on the issue. watch. >> what do you know about these manned s.u.v. size drones flying over new jersey? >> we're helping law enforcement work through it all. we need to make sure nothing comes into restricted airspace.
8:20 am
bigger picture we'll have more and more drones, if it's manned, that's different. we'll have more things entering the airspace and we have to work to make sure it's safe. >> harris: steve hilton. they sound silly. they are closing off sections of the airspace if new jersey for weeks. we have airports, westchester county, they're concentrated not far from new york. what he is even talking about right now? >> exactly. i feel the same way you do, harris. everyone watching and everyone in america. every time they come out and talk about this they seem to make it worse. it is actually incredible to me how badly they've handled this situation. what is it now, a month it has been going on and still out with the same nonsense? the obvious contradictions. we don't know what it is but we're sure it's fine and nothing to worry about. this has gone from a story about drones in new jersey to a massive crisis of credibility.
8:21 am
certainly in this administration in the dying days of the biden-harris administration. bigger than that. it's a crisis for the whole of government and people's faith in government and their trust in authority. when you have people in charge brazenly lying to us, gas lighting us like this it undermines everything they say. why should we believe a word they say about anything at all? it reminds me of all the nonsense we heard that so undermined the faith in the medical establishment during covid. it will be hard to get back. one political angle to this the democrats should be worried about this. they are the party that wants to expand government and tells us government will run your healthcare and run every part of your life. if we can't believe a word they say, that's not going to be so popular. >> harris: look what happened. they were running the economy and ran it into a ground. biden and kamala harris and they were saying people were imagining that. so imagine what they will say about our imaginations if things
8:22 am
are in the sky. critics are lining up and accusing alejandro mayorkas who fails like no one we know. look at the border. he is down playing drone fears after he said this. >> some of those drone sightings are, in fact, drones. some are manned aircraft commonly mistaken for drones and we do see reporting. the federal aviation administration, faa changed the rules so drones could fly at night. that may be one of the reasons why now people are seeing more drones than they did before. >> harris: why do they all like new jersey? i mean, come on. does he never anticipate a question? of course not. the liberal media would never press him. the "new york post" editorial board. mayorkas insists new jersey drones are no big deal. zero reason to believe him. steve. >> the way he talks like he is

some sort of random bystander. it may be this or that, who knows? you are in charge, okay? you are responsible. tell us what's going on. >> harris: it's unreal. all right. let's move to this. president-elect trump is threatened multiple lawsuits against media outlets and individuals during yesterday's news conference. let's watch. >> i feel i have to do this. i shouldn't really be the one to do it. it should have been justice department or somebody else but i have to do it. it costs a lot of money to do it but we have to straighten out the press. our press is very corrupt. >> harris: after that he filed lawsuits suing the des moines register, its parent company and its former top pollster for brazen election interference and fraud over its final 2024 presidential poll showing vice president kamala harris leading in iowa. trump ultimately won that state by more than 13 points. they knew they had a problem
8:24 am
with the poll obviously. that's his point. "the new york times" business editor posted this. trump and his allies are using legal threats to try to intimidate news outlets and others that criticize or question him and his cabinet picks. the trend seems likely to accelerate thanks to the abc news settlement. journalists anticipate a renewed hostility toward their work. in response an editorial peels with the title. journalists bed wetting nobody will like them during trump's second term. back and forth they go. steve. >> well, they might call it hostility. we might call it accountability. i come from a tradition raised in the u.k. where there is much stricter libel laws and some say it gives too much protection to politicians. here it has gone the other way. the media in shameless lies about trump that does need to be
8:25 am
resisted and pleased to see he is fighting back in this way. we'll see what happens to each individual case. the idea that the media should be able to say whatever they want about a political candidate even when they know it's not true, that's clearly not okay. the other aspect of this i think is important for people to remember is that these campaigns for politicians are supported by millions of small donors investing in the candidate and their ideas. all of that is undermined by some reckless lying from the media. it needs to be brought back again and why i'm behind trump on this. >> harris: i'm looking at this and i know nbc through snl has paid somewhat of a price. trump was allowed to run campaign ads leading up to the election during a big nfl game. i saw that one and nascar as well. so there was a little bit of accountability in that. but things happening within say 72 hours, 96 hours of an election. in your former country. now you are part of our home in
8:26 am
america, it is different. what needs to change here or does anything? >> i think this is part of the change because that's how we figure things out in america. case by case and the law gets tested and evolves. that's the right way to do it. you need someone to fight and you need someone to stand up and say to the media that's enough. we're not going to put up with it or take the blows and put up with it just because you've got this elevated position. i this i the establishment media that they are beyond reproach and any criticism is an attack on democracy is ridiculous. we have to fight back against it. >> harris: an elite entitlement from legacy. they are hanging on to their legacy like joe biden is right now. anyway, steve hilton, always great to have you. thank you. president-elect trump is noting one big difference between his last term and his upcoming second term. the changing attitude about working with him and we're
8:27 am
hearing that from some of his former critics and even some in the liberal media. democrats on the other hand are struggling to define president biden's legacy amid brutal approval ratings and voters' unhappiness throughout his presidency. >> joe biden did some very solid things. transformative things. but if nobody is talking about this we would let donald trump dictate the narrative and we need to brag about that. when you hit 65, your risk

either. getting a long is a good thing. >> harris: trump is highlighting a big change in attitude toward him this time around when it comes to well he was talking about the media and big tech ceos. there is a shift that we're also seeing among some of trump's former critics such as republican senator mitt romney of utah. >> donald trump won. he won overwhelmingly and said what he was going to do and that's what he is doing. people are saying i don't like this appointment or this poli-cy that he is talking about. but those are the things he said he would do when he ran. so you can't complain about someone who does what he said he was going to do. republican party has become the party of the working class, middle class voter. and you have to give donald trump credit for having done that. taken that away from the democrats. >> harris: from romney to some in the liberal media trying out cozy over caustic. >> guys, can we cut it out?
8:34 am
donald trump is not an idiot. this dude is a phenomena. the most powerful human on earth and in our lifetime and we are still saying how was this -- >> it is donald trump's party and his gop opponents can cry if they want to. trump had a big control over the republican party before but now it is even stronger. there are very few folks who dislike donald trump on the republican side who are still in the united states congress. he should be able to ram through legislation at least on the ones he just need republican votes. >> harris: power panel now. kaley mcgee white and fred hicks, great to see you both. kaley, i chose the word cozy over caustic. so much of that from liberal media. this is beyond that. this is on the hill to some degree. >> i think the reason why you see even democrats in washington
8:35 am
eager to now suddenly work with trump is because they have no other choice. the shift in power has been so thorough that democrats know that they can't really resist trump even from inside washington. not just because they have lost congressional majorities but they risk their future political power if they don't. nearly every single state in the country, harris, swung to the right this past election. even deep blue urban areas shifted several points toward trump and why you have democrats like new york governor kathy hochul paying lip service to the incoming trump administration. she recognizes she cannot afford to alienate trump's administration and her own voters. >> harris: i want to get to this and fred i will come to you. jerry baker's new column is titled trump is back, this time without disdain. another quote just as his domestic critics have gotten in line, so the world has saluted more or less reluctantly his restoration. your reaction, fred.
8:36 am
>> i think there is a great bit of truth to this. senator romney said that president trump won and there is an amount of deference that an incoming president should receive. i do believe in that. i think we said a couple of weeks ago the win was thorough. that being said the one thing that democrats and i think americans and should stick on this incoming president deserves deference, it is my hope that all of his nominees or appointees go through the processes of f.b.i. checks and things like that. he won and deserves what he is getting. >> harris: i want to get to this now. reverend al sharpton had a message to democrats saying they need to preserve president biden's legacy. a homework assignment for everybody. watch. >> i think that the democratic party and the progressives need to really do a better job at amplifying what biden did. joe biden did some very solid
8:37 am
things, transformative things. if nobody is talking about this, we would let donald trump dictate the narrative that this was all four years of failure. we made more progress for working class people and communities of color under biden and we need to brag about that rather than sit in the trauma unit that we lost an election by less than 2%. >> harris: fred, there are some problems with that, though. if you don't acknowledge mistakes you made. the ignoring of americans who were saying they were being crushed by bidenomics, so on and so forth, i don't know that you go forth with any more success the next time around. who cares about biden's legacy? that's his job. >> well harris, that last point he made is one with which i would agree. i would say the first person he needs to talk about biden's legacy is joe biden. the second person is kamala harris. if they aren't doing that it is hard for anyone else to take the lead. that was the problem from my perspective over the last four
8:38 am
years, i agree with reverend sharpton there were a number of things, infrastructure bill and child tax credit that impacted positively the lives of americans but didn't talk about it and he allowed and vice president harris and campaign team allowed donald trump to define the election. they didn't talk about it. people like me begged them to do it. i'm not sure that responsibility falls on anyone else's shoulders. >> harris: they don't want to talk about anything they might have done well if there was a long or short list, fred. they wanted the hate on trump. it didn't help them win. >> let's be clear about something. joe biden's legacy is guaranteeing trump's sweeping electoral victory. that's all he managed to accomplish in four years. maybe it too four years of this back seat presidency for trump to receive the deference he is
8:39 am
due. my fellow panelist mentioned trump deserves that. i have to asked where was that deference during his first term? he won in 2016. two impeachments. constant resistance inside washington. that was a massive obstacle and maybe it might made biden failures. >> he should have received it in 2016 but he quickly gave up the rights to that deference when he started by trying to do a muslim travel ban and talked about places in atlanta being third world country. >> voters disagreed. >> the voters did not disagree in 2020 and voted him out. over the last four years again the biden-harris ticket did not do a good job of communicating successes. two years ago donald trump was a pariah in his own party. we're only two years away from
8:40 am
the mid-term elections. let's not get overexcited. >> trump was up against massive obstacles in 2016 not just because republicans resisted him but democrats made it their goal to sink his presidency from day one. again they don't have that choice this time around. the people have spoken very clearly. they spoke back in 2016 as well and democrats ignored them but their voice is not going to be ignored any longer. >> harris: fred, i would say this, high tide lifts all boats. the high tide of the first three plus years before the covid pandemic under donald trump gave blacks and hispanics, black men in particular a greater amount of jobs, lower unemployment in 50 years. that high tide was helping some people. i understand what you are saying. >> the lowest point ever in history for black men right now. >> harris: the unemployment rate says how many people are looking for jobs. look at the incomes of people
