Do GLOBE

The GLOBE Program is a science and education program that focuses on advancing Earth systems science through data collection and analysis by citizen scientists of all ages. Participants contribute to scientific research by gathering observations in areas such as atmosphere, hydrology, soils, and land cover.

GLOBE data spans 30 years, offering citizen scientists and professional scientists an opportunity to study change over time. Acquiring accurate data today adds to the record for scientists in the future. There has never been a better time to “Do GLOBE.”

How To Get Started

The GLOBE Program is open to anyone residing in a GLOBE country. See if your country is involved! Get started by creating an account on the GLOBE website or the GLOBE Observer App. Our user roadmaps can guide you through the GLOBE website.

If your country is not involved with GLOBE (see list of participating countries) and you wish to participate in GLOBE, contact the GLOBE Implementation Office at help@nasaglobe.org.

For Citizen Scientists

Collect Environmental Data
The GLOBE Program's app, GLOBE Observer, is the best way to start collecting GLOBE data as a citizen scientist or informal educator. Through the app, you can take environmental observations and help scientists and students from around the world to study the Earth and the global environment. You can also collect and submit data on GLOBE.gov by creating an account.​​​​​​

Data Collection Protocols and Teacher's Guide
GLOBE's Protocols and Teacher's Guide offer a collection of step-by-step guidance for collecting environmental data. They provide scientific background, learning activities, and supporting resources organized by Earth’s spheres. GLOBE offers student GLOBE accounts that ensure student privacy and protection by providing an anonymous email login to record GLOBE measurements.
GLOBE Learning Activities
GLOBE provides a wealth of resources to help educators and students engage with the world around them. GLOBE resources include teaching aides, instructional videos, translated material, and more.
GLOBE Measurement Campaigns
GLOBE's measurement campaigns provide students with an inquiry-based approach to science that complements their in-class lessons. These coordinated data collection efforts are grounded in real science and take place on local, regional, and worldwide scales.
Student Research
Explore how GLOBE data are used both in GLOBE student research reports as well as professional scientific papers. Students can submit their research to the International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS) to receive feedback from judges and have their work featured by GLOBE.
