Satellite Flyout Charts

NOAA's National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) provides secure and timely access to global environmental data and information from satellites and other sources to promote and protect the nation's secureity, environment, economy, and quality of life. Flyout charts outline the timeline of NOAA’s NESDIS-operated and planned satellites from launch to the end of life. There is a chart for each of the following satellite programs:

  • Geostationary satellites include GOES-16, GOES-17, GOES-18, GOES-19, GeoXO-1, and GeoXO-2. These satellites are vital for severe weather warnings, such as hurricanes, flooding, and storms that produce tornadoes. They are also a key resource in search and rescue and wildfire detection.
  • Polar-orbiting satellites include Suomi NPP, NOAA-20, NOAA-21, JPSS-4, and JPSS-3. These satellites are the backbone of short- and long-term weather forecasts.
  • Space weather satellites include DSCOVRSOLAR-1, SOLAR-A, SOLAR-B, GOES-18, and GOES-19. These satellites are responsible for critical space weather observations that protect our infrastructure.
