Summer is just around the corner, and the temps are already heating up which can be dangerous for pets.
Lidia Vesterfelt with Michigan Humane shared advice on what pet owners should keep in mind to protect their furry friends.
Vesterfelt stressed the importance of being aware of the temperature of the pavement this time of year. She suggests limiting walks to cooler morning and evening hours.
Pet parents should also watch for signs of heat stroke like panting, lethargy, and muscle spasms. If your pet is experiencing these symptoms, make sure to get them pet to a cool, dry place and contact your veterinarian immediately.
If your pet is spending time outside, it’s key to provide them with cool, fresh water and a shady spot, Vesterfelt explained.
