Zyaire returned to “Live in the D’s” Music Monday with a poised performance and plenty of updates. You might remember, Zyaire won the Local 4 Super Singer competition in June. She recently was the runner-up at the Michigan State Fair Superstar Contest.

The Detroit artist said working with producers and DJs has sharpened her creative process. “I pull inspiration from everything,” Zyaire said. “I like to look at the title that they give it and work around that. So, it’s like a real collaboration.”

She performed her latest single, “Joy and Pain,” a reflective track about love, loss and what we carry forward. “I say that music is love, music is community, and I truly get that essence when I get to work with people of like minds,” she said.

Zyaire also shared what’s next: the new song is headed to Spotify, she recently finished her pharmacy tech program, and she’s set to perform at Creator Con on Nov. 15.
