The Historical Society of Michigan’s Michigan History Day®  program has been selected to participate in the second phase of the National History Day Rural and Urban Outreach initiative. 

The Historical Society of Michigan™ announces its 2025 State History Award winners, who will be recognized during the 151st Annual Meeting and Michigan History Conference.

Michigan students were among the thousands of participants from across the United States and several territories competing in the National History Day® contest, which took place June 8-12, 2025, on the University of Maryland’s College Park campus. 

The Michigan History Center and the Historical Society of Michigan have announced the 50-plus communities and organizations that will share Round 1 funds in the America250MI History Grant Program.

The Historical Society of Michigan has announced the winners of its 2025 Upper Peninsula History Awards. Each year, the Historical Society of Michigan presents two Upper Peninsula-based awards: the Charles Follo Award for individuals and the Superior Award for historical organizations located in the Upper Peninsula.

A total of 158 students received top honors at the State Finals competition of Michigan History Day® on Saturday, April 19, 2025, which took place at Central Michigan University. The 2025 theme was “Rights and Responsibilities in History,” and participants explored a diverse offering of statewide, national and global history topics. This year, 450 Michigan elementary, middle and high school students took part in the Michigan History Day State Finals contest, which is an educational program of the Historical Society of Michigan (HSM).
