Catch up on messages you missed on Mac
If you receive messages while you have notifications paused or you’re away from your Mac, you can catch up on a busy conversation in two ways: you can jump to the first message you haven’t seen or you can read a summary.
Jump to the first unread message
Go to the Messages app
on your Mac.Select an unread conversation, then click
.Your view of the conversation moves up to the first unread message.

If you have a Mac with M1 or later, Apple Intelligence can show you a summary of unread messages in a conversation. See Use Apple Intelligence in Messages.
