46563 Charity calls for pavement parking to be banned across UK - BBC News

Should pavement parking be banned in Wales?

Guide Dogs UK wants the rest of the UK to follow Scotland and London in banning pavement parking.

Nick Lancaster, 47, from Brecon in Powys is partially blind and has missed medical appointments, buses and struggles to go food shopping because of cars parking on pavements in his town.

"It is stressful not knowing where or when I am going to come across a blocked pavement and if I can get around it or have to backtrack and use an alternative route," he said.

In 2023 the Welsh government delayed its plans for a ban, with the transport secretary now saying he is "committed to making streets safer and more accessible".

BBC Wales' Holly Harrison spoke to residents in Cardiff to find out what they thought.
