The Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission conducts regular harmonised surveys for different sectors of the economies in the European Union (EU) and in the applicant countries.

Latest business and consumer surveys
Latest monthly survey releases, annual release schedule and release alerts. The February/March 2025 surveys included additional ‘ad hoc’ questions.
European Economy. Technical Papers
In this series, DG ECFIN staff reports on recent developments and indicators. The series includes the “European Business Cycle Indicators”.

Business and consumer surveys

The harmonised surveys are addressed to representatives of the industry (manufacturing), services, retail trade and construction sectors, as well as to consumers. These surveys allow comparisons among different countries' business cycles and have become an indispensable tool for monitoring the evolution of the EU and the euro area economies, as well as monitoring developments in the applicant countries.
