NWS Burlington, VT recognizes that we have a special mission responsibility to our core partners, including the emergency management community and other local, state and federal government agencies, to provide Impact-Based Decision Support Services leading up to, during and following high-impact events.

Our Decision Support Services begin with severe weather preparedness and education through outreach activities and internal and external training and exercises. This includes involvement in local, state and federal exercises and simulations.

When public safety in the event of hazardous weather is a concern, NWS Burlington, VT personnel will provide Decision Support Services at the request of Emergency Management and government core partners. This support can include:

Direct, interactive support to ensure safety and protection of property, provided on-site or remotely.
Coordination activities supporting high impact events. This can include predecision conference calls with the primary purpose of enhancing weather situational awareness..
Assistance with the routine provision of NWS data and products including alerts of hazardous weather conditions that are provided uniformly to everyone.
