Strong to severe thunderstorms possible this weekend

Another very mild day is in store today, but with light winds compared with yesterday. A nearly stationary frontal boundary may be able to provide just enough low level moisture for an isolated shower or thunderstorm this afternoon in areas along the Metro Valley and south, but most remain dry through the day. There is a much better chance for showers and thunderstorms, along with gusty winds outside thunderstorms as well, this weekend, as a strong low pressure system tracks up through the Great Lakes. Strong, heavy thunderstorms are possible Saturday afternoon and evening, and a widespread soaking rain could develop over the middle Ohio Valley Saturday night. High pressure of Pacific origen will provide dry, seasonably cool weather behind the cold front to start the new work week. The next system may arrive during the middle to latter part of the work week.
