AES features a distinguished editorial board, the members of which continue to instill the power of their expertise for the journal’s development. Welcome Dr. Karl Golnik to be the New Co-Editor-in-Chief of AES

The editorial office is pleased to announce that Dr. Karl Golnik is taking on the role of Co-Editor-in-Chief of Annals of Eye Science (AES), effective from September 2024. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Golnik to take on his new role!

Annals of Eye Science 2023 CiteScore Released: 1.3

We are pleased to announce that the Annals of Eye Science (AES) has received its 2023 CiteScore: 1.3, ranking 91 out of 137 journals in the Ophthalmology category.

Furthermore, we are delighted to highlight the remarkable achievements made by all AME journals in the CiteScore ranking.

AES is officially indexed by Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)

On March 20, 2024, a confirmation letter reached the editorial office of Annals of Eye Science (AES) that the journal met the selection criteria necessary to be included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index. Articles published in AES after 2022, beginning with Vol 7, will be included in Emerging Sources Citation Index.

Reviewer of the Month (2023)

In 2023, AES reviewers continue to make outstanding contributions to the peer review process. They demonstrated professional effort and enthusiasm in their reviews and provided comments that genuinely help the authors to enhance their work.

Hereby, we would like to highlight some of our outstanding reviewers, with a brief interview of their thoughts and insights as a reviewer. Allow us to express our heartfelt gratitude for their tremendous effort and valuable contributions to the scientific process.

Improving Teaching Skills in Ophthalmology

This special series on “Improving Teaching Skills in Ophthalmology” is edited by Dr. Karl Golnik, Dr.Yip Chee Chew, Dr. Gabriela Palis and Dr. Meena Swaminathan. The goal of the series is to improve ophthalmic educators’ teaching abilities and to produce better ophthalmologists and ultimately better eye care.

AES: Preclinical Models in Ophthalmic Research (In vitro, ex vivo and in vivo models of eye pathologies)

This series on “Preclinical Models in Ophthalmic Research (In vitro, ex vivo and in vivo models of eye pathologies)” is edited by Dr. Dario Rusciano. The authors are proud to present this special edition to highlight and contribute to improve the research abilities of those interested in advancing our knowledge of such pathologies and their treatment.

Ocular Surface Reconstruction/Transplantation

The Series on “Ocular Surface Reconstruction/Transplantation” is edited by Joann Kang and Roy S. Chuck from Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, New York, NY, USA.

The Retina and Systemic Disease

The series on “The Retina and Systemic Disease” is edited by Dr. Kareem Moussa from University of California, Davis, Sacramento, CA, USA.

With a commitment to openness and accountability, and to increase the level of transparency throughout our peer review process, our editorial office has decided to implement a transparent peer review process as an option for all manuscripts submitted to AES from March 19, 2020.
